SYSTEMS ENGINEER SME

THE PROGRAM:
Work on the program responsible for continually monitoring, detecting, and responding to security incidents that may occur on the networks, IT services, and systems of a large Federal agency where you will be part of a centralized command and control environment, ensuring seamless collaboration among security analysts, threat intelligence teams, streamlined incident response workflows, collaborative intelligence-sharing platforms, and stakeholders in addition to facilitating the collection and correlation of data from various sources, supporting the mission to detect, respond to, and mitigate cyber threats promptly.
You will be part of a team responsible for maintaining systems and networks that provide the infrastructure platforms and data. You will be accountable for system administration, identity and authentication, information system security accreditation, data storage and backup, physical infrastructure maintenance, and automation development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, modify, implement security policies, procedures, and guidelines to safeguard the infrastructure and maintain compliance with agency and NIST guidelines for system and information security including any new compliance mandates set by external entities, such as Executive Orders, DOJ policies, and FISMA requirements.
Support physical infrastructure maintenance to ensure reliability and security of hardware assets including developing automation solutions to streamline operational processes
Conduct monthly vulnerability scans, monthly Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) creation, implement patches, ensure controls are reviewed, adhered to, and modified as needed.
Support Government personnel to obtain and/or maintain system Authority to Operate (ATO) status requiring compliance with the requirements set by the OCIO. All activities and documentation will be managed in Risk Vision, Xacta, and/or a similar system prescribed by the OCIO
Act as a subject matter expert for all information and system security related matters, advising Government personnel of best practices/solutions and documenting all aspects of the security program.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED :
9+ years' experience with
Cybersecurity principles, practices, and frameworks, including Incident Response Frameworks, Executive Orders and National Cybersecurity Strategies, CIS Controls, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework and Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA)
Security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and advanced threat detection tools.
Compliance requirements and regulations relevant to cybersecurity, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS, ensuring adherence to industry standards
NIST 800 series publications and Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) compliance (required)
VMWare vSphere 7, Cisco Networking, Dell Server, and SAN Storage hardware
System accreditation and authorization and the ATO processes
Evaluating, documenting, and managing NIST 800-53 control implementations
Governance, Risk, and Compliance tools (RiskVision, Xacta and JCAM preferred))

Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
VMware Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)

? Education:
Minimum Education: Bachelors and minimum of 9 years' experience.
Substitutions Allowed: No Degree- 11 years of general of which 9 years must be specialized experience; MA/MS- 5 years general of which 3 years must be specialized experience
? Security Clearance Level:
Top Secret (TS) level with the ability to obtain access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI)

The likely salary range for this position is $139,001 - $188,059. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
