The Managing Director, Flight Ops & Crew Technology, (MDFOCT), is responsible for the strategic oversight, successful implementation, and support of some of key technologies used by our Pilots, Crew Schedulers, Flight Attendants and other team members. The MDFOCT will partner with the product management team to envision and engineer unrivaled digital products that drive a more reliable and profitable airline. The MDFOCT will be responsible to complete the implementation of the Pilot Contract, the successful transformation of each products in the @context of the overall IT Transformation. The MDFOCT will report to the VP, Airline Operations Technology.

Responsible for the following products in the existing AA IT Taxonomy: Ballot and Trading, Crew Management Experience, Day of Operations, Pilot Experience, Crew Compensation, Crew Shared Services
Works directly with our business partners (Product management and business leadership) to develop new and creative ways to improve operational performance. Assists them in identifying and interpreting technical solutions and risks.
Develops new services and applications or enhances existing ones to better serve our customers and end users.
Accountable for the resiliency and security aspects of all the technology developed by their team according to the established AA IT Standards.
Creates and fosters high-performing teams that excel technically and are accountable for the products and processes they oversee
Fosters a workplace so that all team members feel they belong. Lead by example and develop cultural competencies by engaging in our communities.
Leverages critical relationships across the company to ensure work is being completed with the highest possible quality and within the desired timeframe
Stays current on emerging technologies, hardware, and software relevant to the industry,
Responds to and manages incidents affecting owned products 24x7
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and integrity
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training; Advanced Degree preferred.
10 years of leadership experience, with 7 years as a leader within the technology space
Experience leading a team of more than 100 people across multiple time zones
10 years of relevant IT experience in software development
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Familiarity with airline operations and tools is a plus
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
Demonstrates experience as a successful technical delivery leader with business acumen and a product mindset
Demonstrates understanding of emerging technology trends relevant to the transportation industry
Demonstrates understanding and strong experience leading Agile and DevOps development best practices
Proven track record of delivering business capabilities without compromising IT hygiene (EOSL, patching, Disaster Recovery compliance, technical debt)
Proven track record in delivering and supporting highly scaling, business-critical services and applications
Proven ability in building and maintaining high-performing teams who consistently deliver
Ability to influence others through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills
Ability to think strategically, negotiate skillfully, digest complex details, and use sound judgment and initiative in making decisions
Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking ability
Demonstrated outstanding project management, organizational, and time management skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to handle complex topics comfortably and to interact effectively with all levels, both verbally and written
Ability and willingness to address issues in a 24x7 operations environment
