Summary The position is in the Department of Technology Services (DTS), Systems Development and Support Office (SDSO). SDSO empowers the Judiciary by providing national information technology business services for software infrastructure; cloud-based communication, productivity, and collaboration services; independent validation and verification systems testing, and IT training. Responsibilities The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Systems Development and Support Office (SDSO) is seeking a Cloud Transformation Lead to join its team. The Cloud Transformation Lead is responsible for driving the strategic direction, design, and execution of cloud transformation initiatives across the Judiciary. This role serves as a technical leader in developing and implementing cloud strategies that improve business agility, operational efficiency, and scalability. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in cloud technologies, has a strong track record of leading cross-functional teams, and excels at navigating complex enterprise environments. Duties include, but are not limited to: Developing and driving cloud transformation strategy, ensuring alignment with overarching business objectives. Providing visionary thought leadership and expert guidance on cloud adoption, hybrid cloud strategies, and cloud-native technologies. Delivering executive-level presentations, reports, and progress briefings on cloud initiatives. Staying ahead of emerging trends and innovations in cloud computing. Establishing a cloud foundation based on established government cloud frameworks and consistent with Judiciary objectives. Collaborating with enterprise architects and technical teams to design secure, scalable, and cost- effective cloud solutions. Overseeing the design and implementation of cloud environments, ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance requirements. Establishing and enforcing governance frameworks, policies, and operational standards for cloud initiatives. Leading complex, large-scale cloud migration and modernization initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes. Directing the collaboration of cross-functional teams, including internal staff, business partners, court IT departments, consultants, and vendors. Identifying and mitigating risks, dependencies, and challenges to maintain project momentum. Acting as the primary point of contact for cloud transformation initiatives, working closely with business leaders, IT teams, and external partners. Articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences in clear, actionable terms. Qualifications Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience in both the following: Leading large-scale cloud migration projects in complex enterprise environments. Cloud platforms, such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Desired, but not required: 8+ years of experience in IT, with at least four years in cloud strategy or cloud transformation leadership roles. Applicants with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field are highly desired. Education This position does not require education to qualify.
