Accounting Manager/Controller
Job Description
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the oversight of general accounting operations. This oversight includes controlling and verifying financial transactions, generating fiscal reports, and fostering/maintaining positive relationships with customers and vendors. Additionally, the Accounting Manager is responsible for routine office duties in the absence of an office administrator.
Responsibilities
Participate in all aspects of the accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
Process accounts payable invoices, prepare disbursements, and maintain accrued liabilities.
Reconcile cash and prepare cash forecasts.
Process incoming sales orders, prepare invoices, and track accounts receivable.
Process monthly distributor reports and summarize data.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Assist in the preparation of tax returns, sales tax, and other regulatory reports.
Conduct financial analysis, including variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to support strategic decision-making.
Collaborate with external auditors and assist audit processes.
Implement and maintain accounting software and systems.
Monitor and predict cash flow, ensuring optimal liquidity.
Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
Manage inventory accounting and cost of goods sold.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries related to billing, payments, and account status.
Resolve customer billing disputes and address account-related issues promptly and professionally.
Provide clear and accurate explanations of financial information to customers.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive communication and responsive support.
Collaborate with sales and customer support teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
Process customer payments and refunds accurately.
Maintain accurate customer account records and documentation.
Identify opportunities to improve customer service processes and efficiency.
Assist in developing customer service procedures and training materials related to financial matters.
Essential Skills
5+ years of General Ledger Accounting experience.
Experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Month End, and Journal Entry.
Proficient with Excel & Reporting, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
ERP experience.
Financial reporting, audit, tax, and international currency experience.
Strong understanding of GAAP and relevant accounting principles.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Enterprise, SAP, Oracle/NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent proven work experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in the pharmaceutical, animal health, or manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
Experience with international transactions is highly preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Teams.
Experience with SmartSheets is a plus.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and complete tasks accurately and timely.
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
CMA certification preferred.
Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, work resourcefully and independently, and work within a cross-functional team setting.
Work Environment
This is a fully remote position with the requirement to go into the office once a week to check mail and other routine tasks. The department consists of eight people, and the role reports to the VP of Finance.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58.00 - $72.00/hr.
