Job Title: Medical AssistantJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to perform a variety of administrative and patient care supportive duties. You will assist administrative, medical, and nursing staff in ensuring the office runs smoothly. You will work closely with Providers and will be on your feet the majority of the time. You will be responsible for registering and processing appointment check-ins and check-outs in the electronic medical record systems. Additionally, you will enter and/or verify health insurance information, collect payments as necessary, check eligibility for services, check vitals, room patients, record histories, schedule appointments for new and returning patients, provide information to other clinics and ancillary services, and direct patients to assigned areas and other locations upon request.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of administrative and patient care supportive duties.

Assist administrative, medical, and nursing staff in ensuring the office runs smoothly.

Enter and/or verify health insurance information and collect payments as necessary.

Check eligibility for services.

Check vitals, room patients, record histories.

Schedule appointments for new and returning patients.

Provide information to other clinics and ancillary services.

Direct patients to assigned areas and other locations upon request.

Essential Skills

1+ years' experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Strong communication skills

Team-oriented and motivated to learn

Quick study

CMA or RMA and AHA BLS certifications required

Experience with medical assisting, Epic, and phlebotomy

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in a healthcare or academic research institute is a plus

Work Environment

This is a fast-paced Gastroenterology clinic. The work schedule is Monday-Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to Noon. This position is 100% onsite. The role offers a 6-month contract with the opportunity to apply and interview for permanent vacancies. Candidates who convert to permanent positions will have full access to internal job postings across the Health System and University. The permanent benefits are extremely competitive and considered among the top in the nation.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.25 - $23.25/hr.

Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
