The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Position provides administrative support to the Game Division staff and provides limited support to other divisions when requested. Assists with document and report preparation such as the Big Game and Small Game Status Books. The position also assists with Federal Aid Grants development and management (proof reading). Also assists with harvest questionnaires and database management for the Division as well as certain big game tag deliveries after drawings are conducted to ensure successful applicants are enrolled in and complete indoctrination courses. Assists with monitoring Divisional budgets, processing invoices, purchase order requests, and purchase card expenditures for the Division. Incumbent is responsible for coordinating travel for the Division and tracking expenditures for In State and Out of State travel. The position also assists with the procurement of certain equipment items and inventory of equipment. Serves as public point of contact for division's headquarters office and will coordinate all incoming email and phone traffic to appropriate divisional staff. Acts as primary Division contact for public information requests, data gathering, and records maintenance. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
