The Mental Health Advocacy Service has a vacancy. This job title has an assigned pay grade of AS-622.
This vacancy will be filled by new hire or by promotion of a current permanent status classified employee.
This position is responsible for supervision of attorneys who represent mental health clients and child welfare clients; supervision of support staff, students and others as needed. Management of case load distribution. Coordination with other professionals; implementation of agency policies; training of staff and others as needed. Handles own case load and represents the agency and the interests of our clients on boards, committees and with various policy advocacy organizations.
A valid driver's license is required for the posting as travel is necessary as well as valid bar license is required.
Preference will be given the applicants with experience working with juveniles and persons with mental illness and/or disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law plus four years of experience as a practicing attorney.

Plans, assigns, and reviews the preparation of briefs and other activities incidental to litigation and court work.
Drafts and reviews the drafting of new legislation. May testify on the same before legislative committees and other tribunals.
Testifies before legislative committee hearings on proposed tax law changes and current tax laws in the area of tax specification. Reviews proposed legislation introduced which affects area of tax specification.
