Description

CMS is looking for anAccounting Specialist I

The Accounting Specialist I will be responsible for managing various financial processes such as credit card entries, accounts payable, payroll accuracy, and bank reconciliations. This role emphasizes exceptional customer service and a positive can-do attitude, always ensuring compliance and confidentiality. Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work independently are key.

Essential Responsibilities

Manage monthly credit card entries, including importing transactions from the bank, auditing coding accuracy, overseeing approval processes, and exporting data to the CMS system.

Oversee Accounts Payable operations by managing emails to the AP account, reviewing and processing invoices, initiating rejections, filing invoices for further processing, and entering payables

Review payroll preview reports for accuracy, ensuring proper and timely payroll processing

Maintain vendor paid receipts for record-keeping and audit compliance

Reconcile all bank statements to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records

Perform additional duties as assigned, providing support for various financial and administrative functions

Requirements

Required Skills

Proficient in Microsoft 365 Applications (Word, Excel, Teams)

Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tasks and deliverables

Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively, contributing effectively to team goals while managing individual responsibilities

Maintains confidentiality at all times, handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism

Excellent communication skills including written communication, with the ability to engage effectively across multiple platforms, including phone, email, text, and in-person interactions

Skilled in multitasking and managing multiple assignments simultaneously, consistently meeting deadlines and priorities

Ability to problem-solve efficiently with a focus on clear, efficient communication to resolve issues effectively

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in business or accounting with 1 or more years of relevant experience; Or

Associate's degree in business or accounting with 3 or more years of relevant experience; Or

5 or more years of relevant experience, with a high school diploma or equivalent

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Accounting Manager

This positiondoes nothave direct reports

Travel

0-5% Travel Required

Minimal travel required. Reasons for travel include but are not limited to conferences, team meetings at corporate headquarters, and/or other office locations

Office Physical Requirements

Sedentary work in a climate controlled environment with moderate noise levels. Most duties performed require the use of a computer, phone, and in person, or virtual meetings. Maintain a stationary position for prolonged periods during the shift. Constant operation of computer and other office equipment such as copy machine, phone, and printer. Occasionally transport objects up to 15 lbs. such as small parcels, packages, and other items.
