Starting pay is $20+ per hour with a structured 90-day paid training program covering both installation and service. We provide the tools, training, and uniforms. You bring the attitude and willingness to learn.

What You'll Do

As a Garage Door Installation Technician, you'll learn to professionally install garage doors, garage door openers, and related systems in customers' homes and businesses.

You'll learn to:

Remove and install garage doors and opener systems.

Measure, level, fasten, assemble, and properly adjust door systems.

Perform light carpentry when needed.

Inspect and test completed installations for safe and proper operation.

Maintain a clean and professional jobsite.

Care for company tools, equipment, and vehicles.

Communicate professionally with customers and teammates.

Show customers how their new system operates and explain recommended maintenance.

The quality of the installation matters, but so does the customer's experience. We're looking for technicians who understand both.

We Teach You the Trade

Your career at Ingstrup starts with a 90-day paid training program designed to build skills in both installation and service.

The first 4--5 weeks focus heavily on installation, combining hands-on training at our Lansing facility with real-world field experience. You'll learn garage door systems, proper tool use, measuring, installation techniques, safety, quality standards, and customer communication.

After building your installation foundation, you'll begin learning the service and repair side of the trade through additional hands-on training, coursework, testing, and ride-alongs with experienced technicians.

Training doesn't end after 90 days. New products, different installations, advanced systems, and troubleshooting mean there will always be opportunities to continue learning.
