JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing the City's Information Technology Division by leading the IT Technical Staff in developing, maintaining, securing and managing the City's information technology infrastructure.

MAJOR DUTIES

Infrastructure Management: Administers, troubleshoots, monitors, maintains, and secures computer systems, servers and local area networks located throughout all City operational facilities.

Administers, troubleshoots, monitors, and secures the City's wireless and hardwired wide area networks. Team Leadership: Supervises, trains, and mentors IT staff, including system administrators and support specialists.

Security & Compliance: Implements and oversees security protocols (e.g., firewalls, backups) to protect against threats. Strategy & Projects: Develops an Organizational Technology Plan and executes IT projects, including technology upgrades, new software implementations, and software migrations.

Provides support for various proprietary software and hardware packages; installs software.

Responds to technical questions and provides user support.

Recommends and specifies hardware and software purchases.

Budgeting & Procurement: Prepares IT budgets, manages expenditures, and negotiates with vendors for hardware/software purchases.

User Support: Ensure high-quality IT support services (SLA compliance) for City employees.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

The work consists of varied management and technical duties. Frequent changes to industry standards contribute to the complexity of the position.
