Account Executive, Healthcare - Shaw Contract
Position Overview
Account Executive, Healthcare - Shaw Contract
Shaw Contract is a global design leader in commercial flooring for some of the world's most creative and innovative environments. Our vast, sustainable product offerings can be found across workplace, healthcare, hospitality, education, and multifamily environments, supporting the spaces in which we work, learn, live, play, and heal.
The Role
Shaw Contract is growing in the Chicago market and hiring an Account Executive focused on healthcare to lead business development and sales across Chicago, Chicagoland, and the surrounding suburbs. This role will have a strong focus on building relationships with healthcare end users, particularly within acute care and ambulatory environments.
This opportunity is ideal for a self-starter who is passionate about the healthcare market and understands how healthcare organizations evaluate, purchase, and implement products within the built environment. You will be responsible for developing new healthcare business, building a long-term pipeline, and collaborating with flooring contractors, dealers, designers, internal sales partners, and other industry stakeholders to move opportunities from initial relationship development through project completion.
Because healthcare sales often require a longer development cycle, success in this role will require patience, persistence, strategic relationship-building, and the ability to stay focused on long-term territory growth.
What You'll Do
Drive new business through prospecting, networking, market development, referrals, and lead follow-up
Build relationships with healthcare end users, including decision-makers within acute care and ambulatory environments
Develop a strong, sustainable pipeline of healthcare opportunities across Chicago and the surrounding suburbs
Learn and understand how healthcare organizations make purchasing, procurement, design, and product-selection decisions
Partner with flooring contractors, dealers, designers, A&D partners, and internal Shaw Contract team members to advance opportunities
Collaborate across established account relationships to support healthcare specifications and project execution
Manage projects from initial opportunity through specification, order, delivery, and installation
Identify opportunities to expand Shaw Contract's presence within healthcare systems and related government environments
Travel daily throughout the territory to develop relationships and grow accounts
Utilize Salesforce CRM and structured sales processes, including SPPM, to manage pipeline and opportunities
Represent Shaw Contract in the local market through customer meetings, networking opportunities, and industry events
What It Takes to Succeed
A genuine interest in and passion for the healthcare market
Proven ability to prospect, build a pipeline, and close new business
Ability to develop credibility and build relationships with healthcare end users and industry partners
Understanding of long, complex sales cycles and the persistence to move opportunities forward over time
Ability to work strategically across multiple stakeholders, including end users, dealers, contractors, designers, and internal sales partners
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple relationships and projects simultaneously
Self-motivation and the ability to operate independently while remaining highly collaborative with the Illinois Shaw Contract team
Effective communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills
Ability to learn technical product information and translate it into solutions for healthcare environments
Requirements
High school diploma or GED
Three or more years of sales experience
Demonstrated success in new business development, including prospecting, pipeline creation, and securing new accounts
Experience developing and managing customer relationships across a defined territory
Ability to travel daily throughout Chicago, Chicagoland, and the surrounding suburbs
