We are seeking an experienced hospitality sales professional who enjoys building relationships, developing new business, and contributing to strong hotel performance.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Sales, Marketing & Events, the Sales Manager is responsible for proactively soliciting, developing, and securing group business within assigned market segments to achieve hotel room revenue goals and increase market share.
This is a client-facing, revenue-producing sales role requiring strong relationship-building skills, consistent prospecting and follow-through, and effective management of assigned accounts and opportunities. The Sales Manager partners with clients and hotel teams to create compelling proposals, conduct memorable site inspections, and convert qualified opportunities into business for Hotel Kansas City.
Success requires a proactive sales approach, strong organization, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple accounts and opportunities while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
What You'll Do
Sales & Business Development
Solicit and develop group business within assigned market segments through individual and collaborative sales efforts.
Develop and execute action plans designed to generate new business and grow existing accounts.
Achieve assigned revenue, pace, production, and sales activity goals.
Maintain an active sales funnel and consistently advance qualified opportunities through the sales cycle.
Conduct local and domestic sales calls using available company resources to generate new business and strengthen existing relationships.
Build awareness of Hotel Kansas City within assigned markets through prospecting, networking, client engagement, and industry participation.
Develop and maintain market and competitive awareness to identify revenue opportunities and support proactive sales strategies.
Assist in developing strategies to increase market share and strengthen the hotel's competitive position.
Develop networking opportunities through participation in appropriate community and professional associations, activities, and events.
Client Experience & Conversion
Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients.
Conduct engaging and memorable site inspections that showcase Hotel Kansas City's distinctive product and guest experience.
Develop creative proposals and recommendations responsive to client needs and business opportunities.
Maintain consistent, professional written and verbal communication throughout the sales process.
Provide timely follow-up and maintain ownership of assigned opportunities through appropriate transition to hotel operations.
Execution & Hotel Partnership
Maintain accurate and timely sales activity, account, pipeline, and weekly reporting.
Manage competing priorities and client needs with strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
Partner effectively with Sales colleagues and other hotel departments to support successful client experiences and business execution.
Contribute to annual sales and marketing planning and other departmental initiatives.
Use available systems, tools, resources, and leadership support effectively.
Perform other duties and support hotel sales initiatives as business needs require.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
Required
At least 2 years of progressive hotel sales experience.
Demonstrated experience developing client relationships and generating group or related hotel business.
Strong prospecting, relationship-building, presentation, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple accounts, opportunities, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business technology.
Ability to communicate consistently and professionally with clients, colleagues, and hotel partners.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and contribute positively within a team environment.
Flexibility to work occasional weekends and variable hours based on client and business needs.
Preferred
Experience selling group business within a full-service, upscale, luxury, lifestyle, or independent hotel environment.
Bachelor's degree.
