FABRICATION SHOP ESTIMATOR (PLTX):
We are seeking a Fabrication Shop Estimator to join our team in Plano, Texas. The Fabrication Shop Estimator is responsible for determining the accurate cost for producing manufactured products.The estimator is to ensure all information is obtained to perform job requirements successfully and support any supplier collaborations.The estimator will work with the Fab Shop General Manager, Program Manager and business unit engineering to develop solutions to properly estimate the manufacture of the component; finalize and provide detail quotations.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include but are not limited to; determining proper material, operations, labor and machines to be utilized in production for each part quoted:
Preparing estimates for the manufacture of parts, components and assemblies including material, labor, tooling, inspection and any outside processing
Review and clearly understand customer scope, specifications, and required quality standards from the contract Technical Data Package
Review and analyze customer prints, CAD models, specifications, and applicable standards
Gather material estimates from suppliers
Gather quotes/pricing from external service providers (i.e. steel supply, metal cutting, non-destructive testing, and paint shops)
Effectively estimate labor required for manufacturing, including sheet metal, machining, welding and mechanical assembly for build-to-print fabrications
Develop and maintain estimating standards
Develop manufacturing process steps in conjunction with engineering and shop leadership; estimate labor run times to support that process
Produce detailed, supported estimates to include actual vendor prices
Identify risks associated with projects
Maintain and update quoting standards
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree or tradesperson with industry experience
Minimum of three (3) years of estimating experience in the fabrication industry or equivalent industry experience
Strong knowledge of sheet metal, machining, welding and finish fabrication processes
Experience with CNC machinery, laser cutting, or press brake operations
Robust interpretation of engineering drawings with a solid understanding of GD&T
Strong math, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Project management experience is a strong asset and will help support job planning, coordination, and execution.
Strong time-management skills; ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Experience in Aerospace & Defense is considered an asset
Valid Driver's license
Targeted salary range is $80,000 annually based on qualifications and experience.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 20 or more pounds
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. US Citizenship is a requirement at this location.
