Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Patient Access Representative, you will help patients and healthcare teams navigate the registration and admitting process so they can receive timely, seamless care and experience a positive clinical journey. Every day you will perform patient registration and admitting functions across various hospital access points, ensuring that all demographic and insurance data is accurate and up-to-date. You will be expected to utilize multiple hospital systems to manage scheduling and documentation while proactively identifying and resolving data discrepancies. To be successful in this role, you must possess strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain compliance with privacy and regulatory standards while providing compassionate, relationship-based care in a fast-paced environment.

Patient Access & Registration: Execute accurate patient registration, including demographic entry, insurance verification, and comprehensive electronic health record (EHR) documentation across all assigned access points

Scheduling & Documentation Management: Manage patient appointments and ensure all medical records and registration documents are scanned, indexed, and processed in compliance with organizational standards

Financial Counseling & Revenue Cycle: Communicate patient financial responsibilities clearly using established scripts, provide cost estimates, and collect payments at the time of service

Problem Resolution & Communication: Provide high-quality support via phone and in-person channels, resolving routine registration or insurance discrepancies while escalating complex issues as needed

Operational Efficiency & Collaboration: Utilize multiple software systems to maintain workflow productivity, actively participating in team meetings and huddles to meet established service standards

Compliance & Professionalism: Adhere strictly to HIPAA and privacy regulations while maintaining a professional, patient-centered environment and providing cross-functional coverage as required

Job Requirements

Required

High school diploma or GED

Basic administrative and computer skills, reception, telephone answering, basic knowledge of computer software (i.e. Microsoft Word, E-mail, Excel) and data entry

Provide patient care or operate equipment that touches patient

Preferred

1 year relevant experience in healthcare, patient access setting is preferred, along with knowledge of the following: patient registration procedures and documentation, knowledge of health insurance payers, and real-time insurance eligibility verifications

Pay Range

$17.24 - $24.35 /hour
