Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description
The Material Handler safely operates a sit-down forklift to move large materials throughout a busy manufacturing facility. This role focuses on loading and unloading raw materials and finished products, staging items for production, supporting shipping and receiving, and maintaining accurate inventory and clean, organized work areas. The Material Handler works closely with production, warehouse, and shipping teams to ensure an efficient and reliable workflow.
1st shift - 7am-3:30pm , has to be open to OT. Can be doing 1 hour of OT daily.
Responsibilities
Safely operate a sit-down forklift to transport large materials throughout the facility.
Load, unload, stage, and move raw materials and finished products in designated areas.
Pull and prepare materials for production orders and customer pickups according to specifications.
Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including handling incoming and outgoing materials.
Deliver materials to the appropriate departments in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure materials are stored in correct locations.
Perform daily forklift inspections and follow all established safety procedures and guidelines.
Keep work areas organized, clean, and free of hazards to support safe operations.
Support other departments and assist with general shop duties and production tasks as needed.
Collaborate with production, warehouse, and shipping personnel to ensure efficient workflow and material availability.
Handle general labor tasks such as grinding and other basic manufacturing support activities when required.
Essential Skills
Proven ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
Strong material handling experience, including loading, unloading, staging, and moving materials.
Experience in manufacturing or production environments with hands-on shop experience.
Ability to assist in the production area and perform general labor tasks as needed.
Experience supporting shipping and receiving functions within a facility.
Capability to maintain accurate inventory and track material locations.
Commitment to following safety procedures, including daily equipment inspections.
Ability to work collaboratively with production, warehouse, and shipping teams.
Strong organizational skills to keep work areas clean and orderly.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience as a Material Handler or in a similar role within a manufacturing setting.
Comfort working with grinding equipment and performing basic finishing or preparation tasks.
Flexibility to support multiple departments and adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to learn new processes and equipment to expand responsibilities over time.
Strong work ethic and reliability in a fast-paced, shop-based environment.

Work Environment
This role is based in a shop environment that can be warm or cold depending on the season and may be dirty due to typical manufacturing and material handling activities. You will work around production equipment, forklifts, and grinding tools in an active facility. The setting is hands-on and fast-paced, requiring comfort with physical work and exposure to typical industrial conditions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pomona, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
