Substitute ACT Shuttle Driver

Job Description Description

The ACT Shuttle Driver will transport ACT student passengers to and from Salem Community College to Rowan College of South Jersey in Vineland safely. Drivers are to be friendly, helpful, and professional, assisting students and answering any questions they may have. You must have a valid commercial driver's license (CDL), a clean driving record, and the willingness to transport other passengers as assigned.

This is a grant-funded position not to exceed 25 hours per week.

Examples of Duties

Responsible for the safe transportation of students to and from Rowan College of South Jersey.

Assists student passengers in boarding and exiting vehicle, as needed.

Maintains safe and clean College vehicles, ensuring vehicles are fueled and ready for shift.

Accurately completes driver trip log for each shift with information including vehicle number, number of passengers, pick-up and drop-off times, mileage, etc.

Follows all traffic regulations.

Communicates issues with management, as necessary.

Assists with creating bus route schedule.

Ensures bus routes are covered with a driver.

Performs other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred

Valid CDL driver's license, which is currently in good standing

Previous experience driving shuttle vans preferred

Ability to work a flexible schedule with varied hours to meet department and College needs

Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners

Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment

If certain conditions exist, this position requires you to have access to personal technological equipment and capabilities to perform your duties
