Summary The position is in the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA) at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The incumbent works for the Chief of Quality Management and supports the Quality Management Department staff members. The incumbent assists in establishing short- and long-range goals for the Service which are consistent with the goals of the Medical Center, VISN 7 and VHA, and assists in developing strategies for achieving these goals. Responsibilities Major duties of the position include, but are not limited to: The incumbent performs administration and human resources management, program analysis, office support, and some budgetary program functions. The incumbent provides tools to assess effectiveness and efficiency of program operations and provides supervisor and higher-level staff with data to resolve problems on administrative activities. The incumbent has programmatic responsibility for the Controlled Substance Inspection Program and management of all publications (medical center policies, standard operating procedures, committee minutes and charters, etc.) for Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center. Ensuring the Controlled Substance Inspectors conduct monthly, unannounced controlled substance inspections of Pharmacy vaults, all inpatient units, research, emergency caches and emergency carts where controlled substances are stored. Complete the control substance drug certification training in TMS prior to participation in the Controlled Substance Inspection Program. Ensure all monthly summary of findings are provided to the Medical Center Director. All discrepancies are reviewed and resolved by area supervisors and a report is entered. Provides for the overall administrative management for the organization. Directs the human resources management program for the organization, performing or overseeing the full range of human resources requirements. Manages budget formulation and execution for a changing budget of administrative expenses involving different funding sources. Manages procurement and contracting for the Service.
