Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join a busy legal team in Maryland. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role supports a practice focused on personal injury and workers' compensation matters, where strong follow-through and clear communication are essential. The role offers the chance to contribute to day-to-day case coordination, assist with client and provider communications, and help keep legal files organized in a fast-paced, fully onsite office environment.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate requests for medical documentation and billing records, and monitor outstanding items to ensure timely receipt.
Assist with the organization and maintenance of personal injury and workers' compensation case files throughout the life of each matter.
Provide day-to-day support to attorneys and legal staff by preparing materials, tracking deadlines, and handling administrative tasks tied to active cases.
Communicate professionally with clients, healthcare offices, and external contacts to gather information and provide status updates.
Maintain accurate records, case notes, and supporting documentation so files remain current and well organized.
Help manage calendars, court-related deadlines, and filing activities, including electronic submissions when needed.
Contribute to a collaborative office setting by responding quickly to shifting priorities and supporting team workflow as demands change. Requirements - Prior experience supporting personal injury matters is required.
Familiarity with obtaining and reviewing medical records and medical billing documentation is preferred.
Exposure to workers' compensation cases is beneficial.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients and outside parties.
Dependable, team-focused approach with a high level of accountability.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, fully onsite legal office environment.
Experience with court filings, e-filing, calendar coordination, or civil litigation support is a plus.
