The Business Manager will work within BMCC's Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD), and report directly to the Director of Operations within CEWD. This role will support daily business operational requirements, enhance decision-making and efficiency, and manage budgets, fiscal, HR, and reporting activities. In collaboration with the Bursar's Office, the Business Manager will help maintain accuracy, compliance, and high service standards for student course registration, tuition billing, account management, and reporting.
POSITION DETAILS:
-Monitor and manage departmental budgets; prepare budget modifications; ensure expenditures of supplies, goods, and services align with approved budgets, institutional policies, and operational objectives.
-Prepare financial reports and analyses to support decision-making, budget development and modifications, expense/tuition fee/staff forecasts, and statistical reporting. Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
-Assist with student accounts operations, course registration, enrollment, tuition and fee billing, collections, reconciliations, payment plans, financial aid coordination (scholarships, grants, loans, and vouchers), adjustments, refunds, and relationships with 3rd-party educational partners.
-Supervise staff in completing procurement and vendor payment processes for all goods, supplies and services.
-Lead and contribute to operational improvement initiatives by collaborating across departments to implement processes and procedures that enhance administrative operations, streamline workflows, and improve efficiency, productivity, and service delivery.
-Supervise a marketing specialist in all marketing related duties, social media accounts and other advertising streams (emails, flyers, website, print etc.), research new advertising avenues, and ensure seasonal catalogs are submitted timely.
-Collaborate within CEWD and across departments at BMCC, as well as Research and Grants Administration ensuring compliance with all Personnel Action Forms, Position Vacancy Notices and overall Standard Operating Procedures.
-Assist with Research Foundation and Tax Levy New Hire Onboarding processing; Manage Personnel Action Forms - receive request, create, revise, submit to HR, and monitor through completion; oversee Timesheet submissions with close support from Administrative Assistant.
-Supervise assigned staff, coordinate team priorities, workflows, and workplans to support strategic and operational goals; manage relationships with external vendors and service providers; and assist with revising and/or drafting policies procedures and administration guidelines for the CEWD Division.
-Safeguard confidential, sensitive financial and institutional information with the highest level of discretion and professionalism.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
-Bachelor's in Business Administration, Finance, Management, Operations or a related field.
Preferred
-Minimum of five (5) years of direct and progressively responsible experience in financial management and operations in higher education, nonprofit or public sector organizations.
-Three (3) years of supervisory finance, compliance or operations leadership experience.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze financial data, prepare forecast, statistical, and narrative reports, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to support divisional planning and management activities.
-Demonstrable experience overseeing Bursar Office operations, ensuring accurate billing of student charges, payment processing, collection of receivables, student accounts, enrollment and student course registration.
-Experience assisting with monthly financial reporting, reconciliations and audits.
-Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills with the ability to pivot, manage competing priorities, collaborate and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
-Effective written and verbal communication skills, with experience cultivating and maintaining productive relationships with multiple leadership, internal and external stakeholders.
-Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through, with a commitment to confidentiality, diligence, high standards, ethical conduct, professionalism, and discretion.

Salary range is $76,848 - $89,777; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
