SUMMARY:nnThis is an entry level position that is part of a formal training program. This job is foundational and expected to be a starting point within a specific discipline (Claims, Loss Control, and Underwriting) and is expected to last up to one year. nnUpon completion of the training program the trainee is expected to be familiar with the department policies, processes, procedures, and terminology related to the job. In addition, the trainee will be proficient in the job responsibilities and tasks of the progressive positions within the career path. The trainee will be evaluated on their progress during the training period and on successful completion of the training plan. Upon satisfactory completion of training, the trainee will be eligible for a targeted position within the career path. nnRESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS:nnIn a Learning Capacity:nn Learn and develop skills and competencies from performance of assigned duties.n Learn and develop skills and competencies in the use of systems, software, and programs.n Research and analyze information within the assigned area (Claims, Loss Control, Underwriting)n Work on special projects as assigned.n Compute and provide reports, attend company meetings, and provide feedback to the appropriate supervisor(s).n Works with all internal departments to resolve problems and maintain company relations.n Participates as necessary on special committees and task forces.nnClaims:nn Perform assigned training tasks including specific Claims assignments and assignments designed to introduce the incumbent(s) to all key aspects of the Company.n Learn and develop skills and competencies related to Claims including verifying workers compensation coverage of employer and injured employee from policy information, determining whether the reported injury is compensable under workers compensation, determining medical causal relationship between employee injury and accident, and manage and approve medical bill payments for non-indemnity and simple indemnity claims.n Under supervision of Claims Leadership, responsible for applying claims principles, knowledge and skills based on experience.nnLoss Control:nn Identify potential hazardous conditions and unsafe acts that may have an adverse impact on employee claims and assist the client in reducing or eliminating those hazardous condition or unsafe acts. Review business processes and operations. Make recommendations for best practices in safety.n Research and analyze technical information, specifications, @type of equipment, legal standards, and losses, etc. Write and summarize technical information into practical, usable reports.n Train and/or make presentations to customers on loss prevention and safety related topics by participating in internal and external meetings. Make presentations to internal/external staff as needed.n Gather and communicate pertinent safety information to assist in the risk selection part of the underwriting process. n Maintain strong relationships with independent agents to discuss new and existing clients, specific account loss control reports, analysis, and loss reduction recommendations and to respond to any agent concerns, questions, or issues.nnPremium Audit:nn Learn to perform telephone, mail and field audits.n Learn to collect all pertinent data and documents needed.n Learn to calculate policyholder's premium liability.n Learn relevant laws and regulations and develop a strong understanding of state specific requirements.n Learn to utilize knowledge of automated systems.n Enter and/or research information in computer system.n Learn operations, processes, policies, lingo and procedures.n Review and process requests.n Respond to internal and external customer inquiries.n Develop strong analytical skills with and attention to detail.n Observe auditors performing audits and progress towards assisting and conducting audits on your o
