Medical Customer Service Representative

Overview:

We are seeking a Medical Records Customer Service Representative to join our team in an onsite role supporting a busy healthcare environment. This position serves as the first point of contact for patients and healthcare providers requesting medical records. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced setting while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, Onsite

Key Responsibilities:

Assist incoming callers with medical record requests and provide exceptional customer service.

Answer questions and provide status updates regarding medical record requests.

Route calls to appropriate hospital departments as needed.

Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines and company policies.

Open, sort, scan, and accurately distribute incoming mail and documentation.

Utilize electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems to support record requests and workflow processes.

Operate office equipment including scanners, fax machines, copiers, and other administrative tools.

Support daily medical records operations while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

Skills & Qualifications:

Minimum 6 months of inbound call center or high-volume customer service experience required.

Previous experience in a medical records department, healthcare setting, or related environment preferred.

Working knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office procedures.

Experience utilizing EMR/EHR systems, including Epic, preferred.

Familiarity with ICD-10 coding concepts is a plus.

Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to @type at least 50 words per minute.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.

Ability to quickly learn new systems, equipment, and processes.

Demonstrated commitment to customer service and patient satisfaction.

Understanding of HIPAA privacy regulations and compliance requirements.

Self-motivated team player with strong attention to detail.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
