Role Overview:
The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is seeking qualified candidates for a Customer Service Representative / Administrative Assistant position for the Indianapolis and surrounding areas. This requires that you easily fluctuate between Customer Service support and Administrative support.
In your customer service role you will provide a variety of customer service duties for driver services, vehicle and watercraft titles, and registrations.
In your administrative role you will support the mission of BMV by assisting the Branch Operations Department with administrative tasks related to departmental operations, financial accountability, and the effective management of all License Branch resources, ensuring compliance with all BMV Commission policies, procedures, and programs.
This is an onsite role in the Central BMV Offices at the Indiana Government Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Salary:

A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Customer Service
Provide courteous, respectful, and friendly customer service.
Complete work in a timely and efficient manner.

Maintain a clean and safe workplace.

Follow and support Bureau policies and procedures.
Administrative Details
Maintain daily schedule for select Executive Directors and Deputy Commissioner.
Provide administrative support to the Branch Operations department's daily operations.
Monitor and complete the inventory of office products and supplies within the departments assigned to Branch Operations.
Complete records and/or submit reports on various financial and accountability processes for the assigned areas.
Maintain staffing reports for the department.
Plan, coordinate, and execute all tasks related with departmental meetings, Regional Manager meetings, and Branch Manager meetings.
Compile record keeping for managing performance within the Branch Operations department.
Communicate to the proper chain of command any concerns as they may arise.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours that may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
What You'll Need for Success:
Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:
High school diploma and one year of experience with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles or equivalent service industry experience.
Ability to interact and verbally communicate with a variety of employees and customers, both on a one-on-one basis and in groups.
Ability to present information to clients, customers, and employees.
Ability to write reports and operational correspondence.
Ability to rationalize customer concerns.
Ability to think logically in order to troubleshoot, analyzes situations, and makes sound decisions.
Ability to apply fundamental cash management and accounting principles.
Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, e-mail systems, and STARS.
Ability to operate office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, and phones.
Knowledge of basic machinery operation.
Ability to navigate STARS, BMV's internal database, and other platforms.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to travel up to 50 percent of the time to Central Office, branch locations, training, or branch-related community activities.
Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
A degree is not required. However, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) is required, and 5 years of experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
