Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join an established, privately-owned business in Lexington, South Carolina. This role supports the corporate accounting function by helping maintain accurate financial records, contributing to the monthly close cycle, and improving day-to-day accounting processes. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting principles, confidence working across multiple systems, and the communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues throughout the business.

Responsibilities:

Support the monthly accounting close by preparing entries, reviewing account activity, and helping ensure deadlines are met.

Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts to maintain accuracy and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

Maintain the general ledger by recording financial transactions and verifying supporting documentation.

Assist with the preparation and review of internal financial reports and statements for management use.

Analyze financial data to identify variances, trends, and areas that may require follow-up or correction.

Contribute to process enhancement efforts that strengthen efficiency, consistency, and accuracy within the accounting function.

Partner with the Controller and cross-functional teams on assigned projects and ongoing departmental priorities.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Working knowledge of month-end close procedures, journal entries, and general ledger accounting.

Ability to prepare, review, and interpret financial statements and supporting schedules.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas and everyday data analysis functions.

Comfortable learning and using multiple accounting and business software platforms.

Self-directed work style with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proven ability to build productive relationships across departments and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
