Accounting Specialist - TEMPORARY -Phoenix, AZ

M-F, 8-5; Hybrid 3-5 days/week in Downtown Phoenix, AZ

Term: 6 Months. Possible extension.

About the Job

Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general accounting functions for the Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDOHS). With an upcoming audit, the team is focused on establishing efficiencies and improving internal controls. This role requires knowledge of accounting best practices, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.

Duties/Responsibilities

Perform Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general accounting duties.

Support audit-related activities for AZDOHS.

Help establish process efficiencies and improve internal controls.

Apply accounting best practices and maintain accurate records.

Complete data entry and other accounting-related tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

1-2 years of experience.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and XLOOKUPs.

Ability to use accounting software.

Strong attention to detail and analytical, organizational, and data-entry skills.
