Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this position is responsible for the administration of accounting principles and procedures to assure accurate and timely preparation of the General Ledger and related Financial Reports.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

This position requires proficiency with computers, a working knowledge of QuickBooks software and an understanding of accounting practices, accounting procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Sr Accountant is responsible for ensuring that accounts receivable requirements are met for invoicing collections and customer relations. Participation in various accounting functions including preparing journal entries, fixed asset depreciation, issuing materials for costing purposes, updating and creating various reports, reconciliation of various accounts, assistance with the annual audit, and special assignments as directed. Assistance to the Accounting Assistant and Back-Up duties related to cover Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable will necessary at times.

Analyze and develop procedures to accurately reflect FIFO costing of inventory accounts, including necessary accruals for pertinent costs.

Develop, analyze and maintain the plan/budget/actual cost reporting to ensure that costing is updated on a timely and accurate basis.

Reconcile raw materials, work in process, supplies and spares accounts with the appropriate General Ledger accounts.

Coordinate the periodic and annual physical inventories of raw materials as well as supplies and spares with internal staff and the auditors.

Maintain the Fixed Assets Ledger and associated Depreciation Schedules.

Maintain schedules of interest and debt repayments to ensure the company meets all covenants.

Prepare monthly Journal Entries for re-occurring activities such as Fixed Assets and Interest.

Prepare year-end audit schedules and answers to auditor inquiries.

Thorough understanding of GAAP accounting

Proficiency with computers

Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Excel

Enjoys working in a team environment
