The Employment Manager is a new role within the BMCC's Information Technology Training Programs and Apprenticeships within the Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD). Reporting to the Director of Continuing Education and Workforce Development - Information Technology & Apprenticeship Programs, the position is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding employer partnerships and apprenticeships that provide employment opportunities for students in IT pre-apprenticeships training programs.
The Employment Manager will source new employment, internships and apprenticeship sites, align employer needs with our industry align curriculum and objectives, conduct site visits, collect and communicate employer feedback, and cultivate employer partnerships into our Higher Ed ecosystem and Technology Industry Advisory Board.
POSITION DETAILS
-Drive strong job-placement outcomes by meeting the annual placement targets established by the department for IT graduates to land internships, apprenticeships, and full-time employment opportunities.
-Meet regularly with employers via Zoom, at events, and in professional settings to cultivate new hiring partnerships, coordinate interviews, and manage all aspects of the hiring process in collaboration with employer HR teams.
-Provide direct student support through one-on-one job coaching, resume preparation, mock interviews, and career readiness training equipping students with the professional presence, confidence, and tools needed to successfully compete for and secure employment.
-Prepare and facilitate career-readiness workshops on job search strategies, resume and cover letter preparation, and interviewing techniques.
-Track, analyze, and report all employment outcomes, including collection of job placement verification, paystubs, promotions, and retention, in alignment with departmental and grant goals.
-Experience conducting business development or employer engagement, particularly with employers hiring entry to mid-level talent.
-Present employer feedback and labor-market insights to the Director, staff, and Advisory Board to strengthen academic-to-career alignment.
-Conduct employer site visits to ensure alignment with student learning outcomes and internship/apprenticeship standards.
-Develop employer MOUs, onboarding materials, and partnership documentation to formalize and expand hiring pipelines.
-Research and share emerging best practices in employer engagement, workforce development, and community college career pathways.
-Organize and execute employer-facing and student-facing events, including career fairs, hiring panels, workshops, and networking events.
-Collaborate with staff, student support services, and campus partners to deliver integrated career-connected learning experiences.
-Represent the Office of Apprenticeships and IT Training Programs at events and within the broader College community.
-Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM
-Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.
PREFERRED
-Experience conducting business development or employer engagement, particularly with employers hiring entry to mid-level talent.
-Provide direct student support through one-on-one job coaching, resume preparation, mock interviews, and career readiness training equipping students with the professional presence, confidence, and tools needed to successfully compete for and secure employment.
-Proven success placing candidates in IT roles such as desktop support, network technician/engineer, systems administrator, cloud support/architect, and cybersecurity analyst or any IT job related roles.
-Strong understanding of IT career pathways, industry certifications, and employer expectations in technical fields.
-Demonstrated partnership management experience, including cultivating, sustaining, and expanding employer relationships.
-Ability to operate autonomously, take ownership of tasks, and meet partnership/placement targets.
-A track record as a diligent, organized, adaptable self-starter.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Strong customer service orientation; sales or recruitment/staffing experience is a plus.
-Experience preparing and facilitating workshops on job search strategies, resumes, cover letters, and interviewing.
-Ability to collect, analyze, and report outcomes data related to internships, apprenticeships & employment.
-Experience collaborating with faculty, student support services, and external stakeholders.
-Additional training or certifications related to AI, IT workforce development, employer engagement, or career coaching are desirable.
-Ability to represent the College professionally at events, conferences, and employer meetings.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Manages the Continuing Education Office and designs, develops, and implements instructional programs and activities, coordinating with other College support systems.
Oversees the general operation of the Continuing Education Office; hires and manages staff; oversees registration, payments, and other office activities
Designs and makes recommendations to Director for academic, outreach, general training, and certificate programs
Develops and writes grant proposals
Hires faculty and coordinates teaching schedules
Observes classes, analyzes student evaluations, and performs faculty evaluations
Orients new faculty and acts as liaison to resolve faculty issues
Plans and implements advertising campaigns and designs marketing and other program materials
Maintains financial information such as tuition payments, material costs, and faculty payroll
Develops mailing lists and analyzes marketing strategies and student profiles
Acts as a liaison between the Continuing Education Office and other internal and external units on co-operative and co-sponsored programs.

Salary range is $76,848 - $89,777; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
