Our Energy Group at CEI builds projects from the field to the grid. ABOUT THE ROLE
The vision for the Assistant Project Manager - Estimating to Traveling role will be to train with the Energy division's Estimating team, with intent to convert to an onsite traveling Assistant Project Manager position.
During the Assistant Project Manager's training period with the Energy division's Estimating team, they will: work closely with the Preconstruction team, Project Managers, Purchasing, Engineering, and report to the Chief Estimator - Energy. The Estimator will be responsible for developing and completing utility scale solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) estimates, including self-perform and subcontracted scopes of work. Estimating includes RFP & drawing package review, developing proposal level designs, quantity take-off, material RFQ prep & evaluation, and subcontractor RFQ prep & evaluation.
Lead team meetings and provide guidance to Project Engineers and Project Coordinators in partnership with the Project Manager and field team.
Partners with scheduling department to gather all data required to populate CEI schedule.
Identifies cost impacts associated with RFIs, submittals, and design changes and provides timely notification.
Prices change orders consistently and in a timely manner for project manager review and approval.
Manages close out documents.
Coordinate commissioning activities w/ 3rd party. Tracks and follows up on open items.
Maintain strong working partnerships with vendors and subcontractors. Coordinates accurate material releases on time and consistent with project documents. Track material releases, changes and coordinate delivery with construction schedule.
ABOUT YOU
You bring innovative and entrepreneurial thinking to a project with prior experience supervising and/or providing guidance to others. You possess technical knowledge and communication skills, which are vital to an Assistant Project Manager's success. You have experience providing in-house support to Project Managers such as coordinating, tracking quantities complete for billing, and managing project activities and documentation. You bring a willingness to learn and are on the lookout for ways to improve existing processes.
Serve as the go-to person to help resolve any issues or potential problem areas.
Actively thinks about new ways to improve or change processes. Brings innovative and entrepreneurial thinking to a project.
Prior experience working on semi-remote jobsites, supervising others. Renewables/Large Electrical/Data Center build experience highly desired.
Good working knowledge of MS applications including Excel.
Prior experience in electrical estimating and the ability to accurately estimate change order pricing.
Experience with Accubid estimating software preferred.
Scheduling ability with Microsoft Projects and/or Primavera P6 experience preferred.
Knowledge of Electrical Code and Civil Construction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that, in the sole judgment and discretion of Company, would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications may qualify.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or similar preferred.
Licensure/Certifications: None required.
Experience: Three (3) or more years of experience specifically as a Project Engineer in electrical construction, or MEP experience in general contracting. Minimum five (5)+ years of related experience, including some time managing smaller projects.
Driving Record: Valid state-issued driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
