HIRING CONTACT: Kelvin Billington (361) 813-7815 kelvin.billington@tpwd.texas.govPHYSICAL WORK ADDRESS: Choke Canyon State Park, 358 Recreation Road 8, Calliham, Texas 78007 GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Lead Ranger, this position performs complex (journey-level) building maintenance and construction work including the daily maintenance and repairs of facilities, grounds, and equipment for Choke Canyon State Park. Serves as the Back-Up Utility Plant Operator (UPO) and assists in the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of the water and wastewater treatment systems. Responsible for regulatory compliance in all utility operations to include completion of required forms and reports required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). Performs general maintenance and cleaning of water facilities. Performs all phases of maintenance, cleaning and repairs to other park facilities, equipment, grounds, and electrical and plumbing systems utilizing equipment such as hand tools, power tools, mowers, tractors, and other machinery. Responsible for preparing reports, training park personnel, revenue collection and accounting, providing visitor services, and assists in the enforcement of park rules and regulations. Available for emergency call outs as needed. Supports and complies with the agency's mission in all activities. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation from High School or GED.Experience: Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience.Licensure: Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid State driver's license.Must possess or be able to obtain, within one year of employment class 'D' Water and Wastewater operator license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license and compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's (TCEQ) Criminal Conviction Guidelines. ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS: Experience: Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum substitution of two years.
