Summary You will serve as an ENGINEER/SCIENTIST in the DIGITAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. Responsibilities You will perform professional work of projects involving all phases in the life cycle design, development, modification, functionality, test, evaluation, or integration of computer software, and/or hardware functions of combat weapons systems. You will analyze, manage, or perform work necessary to plan, design, develop, acquire, document, test, implement, integrate, maintain, or modify computer software, hardware, and/or network systems. You will use computer systems in the automated acquisition, storage, manipulation, management, movement, control, display, switching interchange, transmission, or reception of information used in naval systems or shore-based applications. You will support the requirements of a complex matrix organization, supporting various sponsor driven requirements with the goal of developing sustainment and engineering tools that can be leveraged across organizational boundaries You will design, code, integrate, and debug software, high-speed computing, computer graphics, and real-time data acquisition systems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-03 pay band or equivalent grade level (GS-9/11) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Engineer or Scientist evaluating computer programs and computing systems through the execution of unit and system level tests for shipboard combat or weapons systems and equipment. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-@type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. For the 1550: Bachelor's degree in computer science OR Bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
