Embedded Software Engineer

Greenville, SC OR Melbourne, FL | Full-Time | Onsite | 9/80 Schedule

Join a growing engineering team developing mission-critical embedded systems for advanced defense and aerospace applications. This role offers hands-on involvement throughout the entire product lifecycle, including software architecture, embedded C development, hardware integration, testing, and system validation.

You'll work directly with embedded processors, real-time systems, custom hardware, and electronic test equipment while collaborating closely with electrical, FPGA, and systems engineers to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and debug embedded software using C and Python

Develop software for embedded Linux, RTOS, and bare-metal environments

Integrate software with custom electronic hardware and microcontroller-based systems

Perform hardware/software integration, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis

Create and execute test plans, automated test scripts, and validation procedures

Develop device drivers and communication interfaces including UART, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet

Participate in software architecture reviews, design reviews, and code reviews

Support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing environments

Collaborate with hardware, systems, and test engineers to deliver robust solutions

Support customer demonstrations, technical presentations, and proposal activities

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

3+ years of embedded software development experience

Strong C programming experience

Working knowledge of Python

Experience with embedded Linux, RTOS, or bare-metal systems

Experience integrating software with hardware platforms

Experience debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and laboratory test equipment

U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain or maintain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, or other CI/CD tools

Experience with Yocto or Buildroot

Knowledge of requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama

Experience with MIL-STD qualification testing

Experience with device driver development

Familiarity with aerospace or defense programs

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenville, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $80.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
