Role summary:
Join Walmart as a Senior Data Engineer and leverage your expertise in data integration, modeling, and governance to support the company's data strategy and business objectives. About the team:
The Merch Decision Sciences (MDS) team builds strong data foundations and analytical frameworks to support scalable decision-making. MDS manages the full data lifecycle to improve merchandising outcomes by defining metrics, delivering data products, developing analytical models, and enabling automation and applied AI. Combining data stewardship with analytics, the team accelerates execution while maintaining business @context. Serving as a key data partner for Merchandising stakeholders, MDS drives insights that influence critical business metrics and support strategic decisions, ensuring data integration, governance, and modeling align with organizational goals.
What you'll do:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures to support business analytics and reporting needs.
Integrate and transform data from internal and external sources using ETL and streaming techniques.
Develop and optimize data models, ensuring data quality, governance, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Implement and enforce data governance policies to maintain data integrity and security.
Write, test, and deploy efficient code using SQL and other programming languages to support data workflows.
Monitor and troubleshoot data systems to ensure high availability and performance.
What you'll bring:
Extensive experience in data engineering, including data integration, modeling, and governance within complex environments.
Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with cloud and big data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure, or Google BigQuery.
Strong knowledge of data strategy, data quality standards, and data ecosystem management to support business insights and decision-making.
Ability to develop and optimize data pipelines using ETL, streaming ingestion, and API techniques.
Skilled in creating logical and physical data models, ensuring scalability and performance.
Experience in coding, testing, and deploying data solutions using appropriate programming languages.
Understanding of regulatory and ethical requirements related to data privacy, security, and governance.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
