Job Title: Electrical Drafter / Electrical Design TechnicianJob Description
This role focuses on the design and development of electrical systems for custom CNC machinery and industrial automation equipment. You will collaborate closely with Electrical Engineers, Controls Engineers, and Manufacturing teams to produce detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and supporting documentation that enable the successful build and installation of advanced manufacturing equipment. The position is ideal for someone experienced in creating electrical drawings for industrial equipment, control panels, and automation systems using AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical CAD software.
Responsibilities
Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and cable drawings for CNC machinery and automation systems.
Develop and revise electrical documentation based on engineering changes and customer requirements.
Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for electrical assemblies, control panels, and complete machine builds.
Support the selection and specification of electrical components, including sensors, drives, PLC hardware, HMIs, and industrial network devices.
Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Assembly teams to ensure accurate implementation of electrical designs.
Assist with electrical control panel design and layout in accordance with applicable industry standards.
Maintain drawing revisions and engineering documentation within company systems to ensure accurate records.
Support troubleshooting activities and updates to existing machine designs as needed.
Work with vendors to obtain technical information, component specifications, and documentation.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to design standards, drafting practices, and engineering processes.
Essential Skills
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting & Design Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
2+ years of experience creating electrical drawings for industrial equipment, machinery, or automation systems.
Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar electrical CAD software.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.
Experience developing Bills of Materials (BOMs) for electrical assemblies and machine builds.
Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Experience creating and maintaining electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and cable drawings for automation systems.
Knowledge of electrical design principles for control panels and industrial equipment.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience supporting CNC machinery, machine tools, or custom automation equipment.
Knowledge of PLC architecture and industrial control systems.
Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP and Profinet.
Understanding of UL508A, NFPA 79, NEC, CSA, or similar industrial electrical standards.
Experience working with pneumatic systems and industrial machine controls.
Ability to collaborate with vendors to obtain technical information and component specifications.
Interest in contributing to continuous improvement of design standards and engineering processes.
Appreciation for combining engineering innovation, craftsmanship, and cutting-edge technology in manufacturing solutions.
Work Environment
The role is based primarily in a very clean manufacturing facility with adjacent office space, with approximately 90% of your time spent in the office environment. You will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams in a modern setting focused on high-performance CNC machinery and industrial automation. The environment supports the use of advanced electrical CAD tools and emphasizes precision, quality, and safety in all design and production activities.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
