Mechanical Project Engineer

At RK Industries, you'll serve as a vital link between engineering, project management, and field operations. From reviewing drawings and managing RFIs to supporting procurement, submittals, scheduling, quality control, and project documentation, you'll help ensure every project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Working alongside Project Managers, Superintendents, design teams, and skilled field professionals, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting large-scale mechanical construction projects while developing the technical expertise and leadership skills needed for long-term career growth.

What You'll Do
Support the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure project requirements are clearly defined and executed
Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and as-built documentation
Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, billing, change estimates, and financial tracking
Support procurement activities, buyout processes, and subcontractor negotiations
Coordinate material and equipment purchasing, delivery, and release schedules
Assist with preparation and maintenance of project schedules in collaboration with field leadership
Coordinate communication between owners, architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers
Ensure project documentation, reports, permits, licenses, and administrative records are completed accurately and on time
Monitor labor hours, project costs, productivity, and budget performance
Support change order and change request processes, including tracking and documentation
Verify materials invoiced and work billed have been delivered or completed
Assist with project quality control processes and ensure compliance with contract requirements
Support project closeout activities and documentation requirements
Help resolve technical, operational, and customer-related challenges
Assist with project safety initiatives and support accident documentation when required
Collaborate with field teams to maintain project schedules, quality standards, and customer expectations
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
1-2 years of experience in construction, engineering, project coordination, or a related role
Strong understanding of construction documents, drawings, specifications, and project administration processes
Experience supporting submittals, RFIs, procurement, scheduling, and project documentation preferred
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong verbal and written communication abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
Attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams
Proficiency with construction management software, Microsoft Office, and technical documentation tools
