Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a busy finance function within a printing and publishing environment. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who enjoys accurate transaction processing, strong vendor coordination, and keeping payment activity organized in a fast-moving setting. The position offers the chance to contribute across the full payables process while working closely with internal teams to maintain timely and compliant financial operations.

Responsibilities:

Handle a high volume of payable transactions with accuracy, ensuring invoices are entered, coded, and routed appropriately for approval.

Prepare vendor disbursements through multiple payment methods, including checks, ACH, and wire activity, while meeting established deadlines.

Review employee expense submissions for policy compliance and complete timely processing and follow-up when corrections are needed.

Create and maintain purchase orders, then align invoices with supporting records to confirm proper documentation before payment.

Maintain vendor account information, respond to payment and invoice questions, and build productive working relationships with external partners.

Reconcile supplier statements, research discrepancies, and coordinate resolutions to prevent delays or duplicate payments.

Support month-end accounts payable close tasks by organizing records and ensuring payable balances are current and accurate.

Work with departments across the business to address invoice issues, improve workflow efficiency, and uphold internal control standards. Requirements - Previous experience in accounts payable or a related accounting support position.

Working knowledge of invoice coding, account coding, and end-to-end accounts payable processing.

Experience handling payment activity such as check runs and ACH transactions.

Familiarity with ERP or accounting platforms, including Great Plains Solomon, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, or similar systems.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, with strong capability in Excel.

High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail when managing financial records.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively in a deadline-driven environment.

Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach when partnering with vendors and internal teams.
