Overview
System One is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to supports project management in planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications. This role collaborates closely with pre-construction teams, superintendents, and project stakeholders to manage project documentation, schedules, budgets, submittals, change orders, procurement, and field activities. The position also helps ensure project quality, safety, compliance, and effective communication across departments throughout all phases of construction, from project startup through closeout. Responsibilities
Assist project manager in reviewing proposals and plans to determine time frames, funding limitations, procedures for project completion, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases.
Work closely with Pre-Construction department in setting up the project. Prepares job cost breakdown sheets and schedule of values.
Attend pre-construction meetings and distribute paperwork to appropriate personnel. Attend turnover meetings.
Consult with the project manager to devise project work plans, duties, responsibilities, and the overall scope of authority.
Aid in the coordination and monitoring of activities being completed by project teams to ensure the overall quality of work.
Review status reports from project teams and modify schedules and budgets when required.
Prepare project reports for supervisor.
Prepare submittals, submittal status, release, and delivery.
Work with the PM to review labor reports and update monthly WIPs.
Monitor and review equipment and tools on projects.
Attend monthly project reviews with the appropriate personnel to ensure proper adjustments are being made to the WIPs and work is being completed smoothly.
Work closely with Superintendents. Attend close out meetings with the appropriate personnel at the conclusion of assigned projects.
Assist project teams and other Project Managers with problem resolution.
Prepare and submit material, tool, equipment requisitions to proper departments.
Attend project field meetings. Inspect all project work sites to ensure safety and cleanliness.
Work with project manager to formulate change orders and extra work orders when needed. Follow up on change order status.
Coordinate and monitor all changes pertaining to the scope of work.
Prepare and file all purchase orders.
Aid in securing all permits, fees, licenses, etc.
Help to coordinate the planning of all fabrications needed for construction projects.
Ensure excellent communication between all departments throughout the facilities.
Promote excellent morale throughout all departments and divisions.
Assist with enforcing all rules and procedures such as accounting, administrative, safety, etc.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Organizational skills to coordinate tasks pertaining to construction projects.
Ability to oversee projects and employees.
Sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Sufficient knowledge of mathematics including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute and interpret charts and graphs.
Ability to schedule and prioritize all work assignments.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of diverse individuals.
Ability to enforce and abide by all company rules and procedures.
Excellent knowledge of construction plans and specifications.
