Category Finance Business Partner - Cough & Cold
The Category Finance Business Partner (BP) for the Cough & Cold portfolio provides end-to-end finance leadership to the US Brand Director, General Manager and the multi-functional organization supporting the Cough & Cold business in the U.S. The incumbent will partner with business leaders to translate strategy into operational plans and provide decision support, including contingency planning, financial reporting, innovation financial analysis, and portfolio optimization. They will serve as the Cough & Cold category voice of the shareholder and leverage market insights, business intelligence, and system knowledge to ensure business decisions drive profitable growth and deliver sales and earnings commitments.
The role will be a key member of the Cough & Cold Leadership Team and play a vital role in shaping strategy execution, driving disciplined resource allocation, establishing clear decision rights, and coaching cross-functional teams to operate effectively and create value.
The role will be responsible for:
Full financial management of the P&L for the brands. Enabling financial business steering, management of the Brand P&L and resource allocation in line with strategic objectives,
Translating strategy into operational plans and providing decision support, including contingency planning, financial reporting, and NPD financial analysis.
Proposing corrective actions when there are deviations from targets.
Ensuring business decisions create sufficient value for sales and profit delivery.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Forecasting & Scenario Planning: Lead forecast development and ambition setting for upcoming years.
Performance Review: Analyze brand performance, provide financial updates, and proactively address risks and opportunities.
NPD Financial Analysis: Deep analysis of new product development (NPD) portfolio, including value drivers and sensitivity analysis. Challenge assumptions to maximize value creation and recommend go/no-go decisions at innovation gates.
Stewardship Support: Approve invoices, reconcile actuals, and ensure accuracy in partnership with US Central Controlling.
Trade & Investment Planning: Partner with Commercial Strategy and Sales Finance to develop annual trade rates and incremental investments to support retailer where-to-play / how-to-win and drive winning plans in market
SKU & Retailer Analysis: Identify growth opportunities across SKUs and retailers based on differentiation, profit margin, distribution, and share.
Supply & COGS Optimization: Partner with Supply Chain and manufacturing sites to improve COGS, gross margin, and inventory productivity through financial insights and decision support.
Price/Pack/Architecture Assessment: Lead financial assessment to improve retailer margin, gross margin, and consumer value.
Ad-hoc Analysis: Present business state, financial interventions, and project updates to leadership.
Business Partnership & Challenge: Provide independent financial challenge to strategic decisions, investments, and resource allocation to ensure sustainable value creation and delivery of financial commitments.
Cross Functional Steering Leadership: Play a central role in influencing how the team works together, ensuring decision rights are clearly defined, and providing direct coaching to the cross-functional team, empowering each member and helping the team operate more effectively as a unit.
Process Optimization & Digitalization: Drive automation, digital transformation, and predictive analytics for efficiency and insight.
Continuous Improvement: Share best practices within the finance BP community.
Dedicate a portion of time to float within the finance professional home, supporting broader finance initiatives and professional development.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance or business required.
Expertise in forecasting, target setting, management reporting, and international accounting standards.
Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and conceptual skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
12+ years of experience in global business finance.
Strong commercial sense, preferably in Life Sciences or FMCG.
Strategic mindset, courage, collaboration, and cross-functional networking abilities.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $144,640.00 - $216,960.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
