This consulting role serves as an owner's representative, focusing on electrical field inspections and construction administration for energy projects across Arizona. The Electrical Inspector evaluates electrical infrastructure and systems, oversees special inspections, and ensures that construction complies with codes, standards, and project requirements. This position is not an electrical installation role; instead, it centers on inspection, documentation, and quality assurance for a variety of electrical facilities.
Responsibilities
Perform electrical field inspections on energy projects throughout Arizona, acting as an owner's representative on construction sites.
Conduct special inspections of electrical infrastructure, electrical systems, electrical vaults, regulators, underground electrical infrastructure, grounding, controls, and related systems.
Administer construction activities from an inspection perspective, including quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) oversight.
Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, details, and other construction documents to verify compliance with design and code requirements.
Prepare clear, accurate, and timely inspection reports and project documentation, including detailed daily inspection records.
Support construction administration tasks, such as reviewing RFIs, submittals, pay applications, and change orders when needed.
Observe electrical testing, startup, and commissioning activities to confirm that systems function as intended.
Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and project stakeholders to address inspection findings and construction issues.
Apply strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable standards, and electrical construction practices to all inspection work.
Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to produce reports, track project information, and manage communications.
Travel to project sites across Arizona, including overnight assignments and occasional night work, and work on-site in Fountain Hills, Arizona, when required.
Follow instructions carefully, maintain punctuality, and uphold high standards of professionalism and reliability in all project activities.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in electrical engineering, electrical inspection, or journeyman electrician work.
Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable electrical standards, and electrical construction practices.
Demonstrated experience performing electrical inspections, QA/QC, construction administration, or owner's representative services.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, details, and other construction documents.
Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and timely inspection reports and project documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with customers and project stakeholders.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Valid driver's license.
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Ability to travel throughout Arizona, including overnight assignments and occasional night work.
Ability to work on-site in Fountain Hills, Arizona, when required.
Solid practical electrical experience, including the ability to read blueprints.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and construction teams.
Reliability in construction management and QA/QC activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience reviewing RFIs, submittals, pay applications, and change orders.
Experience observing electrical testing, startup, and commissioning activities.
Experience with construction cost estimating and quantity verification.
Experience preparing detailed daily inspection reports and construction documentation.
Strong quality control and quality assurance mindset applied to electrical construction.
Ability to follow instructions consistently and work with a high degree of punctuality.
Willingness and ability to travel to various project sites across Arizona.
Professional demeanor and commitment to delivering high-quality service in a private company environment.
Work Environment
This role is based in Arizona and involves regular travel to project sites across the state, with some overnight assignments and occasional night work. Work is primarily performed in the field at active construction sites, including energy projects and electrical infrastructure facilities, where the Electrical Inspector interacts closely with construction teams and project stakeholders. The position also requires periodic on-site work in Fountain Hills, Arizona. The environment combines on-site inspections with office-based tasks such as report writing and documentation using standard office software. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00/hr.
