Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
This Mechanical Engineer role provides broad engineering and technical support within a custom manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on mechanical design, drafting, documentation, and cross-functional project coordination. You will contribute directly to the day-to-day operations, working closely with one other engineer and a busy team where your impact is visible and you are more than just a number.
Responsibilities
Prepare approval drawings, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and supporting technical documentation.
Review customer specifications, project plans, contract documents, and technical requirements to ensure designs and documentation meet all project needs.
Assist with design reviews for custom tanks, pressure vessels, accessories, and related steel components, providing input on configuration, supports, coatings, linings, insulation, and fabrication requirements.
Coordinate engineering documentation between customers, vendors, outside engineers, and internal teams to maintain clear and consistent communication.
Maintain drawing revisions, project records, design notes, technical submittals, and related documentation in an organized and accurate manner.
Create and revise 2D mechanical drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar CAD software, translating customer requirements, sketches, and specifications into clear, detailed drawings.
Interpret and produce drawings, bills of materials, tables, charts, and technical standards to support engineering, production, and quality activities.
Develop drawing packages for customer approvals, stamped engineering submittals, and internal shop use, ensuring completeness and clarity.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
Strong understanding of mechanical design, technical drawings, and manufactured components, including sheet metal and steel fabrication concepts.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar CAD design and drafting software for 2D mechanical drawings.
Ability to read and understand technical drawings, bills of materials (BOM), tables, charts, and specifications.
Solid grasp of mechanical engineering principles related to pressure vessels, storage tanks, structural steel, and industrial equipment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality engineering and drafting work.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with office staff, shop personnel, vendors, customers, and outside engineers.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a manufacturing environment.
Comfort working directly with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, sales, purchasing, inspection, and external partners.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new tools, processes, and standards.
Self-motivated and team-oriented, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced custom manufacturing environment.
0-3+ years of experience in engineering, drafting, manufacturing, fabrication, or project coordination (entry-level to early-career candidates encouraged).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middleboro, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $85000.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
