The Shipping Coordinator/Material Handler plays a key role in supporting operations by accurately sorting, tagging, and moving materials in a heavy industrial environment. This position requires consistent attention to detail, strong basic math and measuring skills, and the physical ability to handle and lift heavy materials while maintaining a safe and organized work area.

Responsibilities

Responsible for shipping out materials and tracking orders.

Gather material that needs to be sorted and transport it safely to the melt shop.

Maintain clear segregation of red-tagged and yellow-tagged material within the melt shop to ensure proper handling and processing.

Properly tag all material that has been sorted, following established procedures and identification standards.

Ensure any material that has not been checked receives a red tag before it enters the melt shop.

Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of the scrap area, keeping walkways and workspaces clear and organized.

Use basic math and measuring skills to verify quantities, sizes, and specifications of materials as needed.

Follow safety guidelines and procedures appropriate for a heavy industrial environment, including proper handling and lifting techniques.

Essential Skills

Ability to work in a heavy industrial environment.

Comfortable with heavy lifting up to 70 lbs.

Good measuring and basic mathematical skills.

General labor experience in roles such as material handler or construction worker.

Ability to read and understand basic English instructions and safety information.

High School Diploma or GED.

Valid drivers license.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Florham Park, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
