Robert Half is recruiting for an interim Project Manager for our client in the government/ public sector industry.

The Project Manager/ consultant will support a large-scale Human Capital Management (HCM) implementation across multiple business units. This role functions as a Project Manager / Workstream Lead responsible for day-to-day execution, coordination, and direct stakeholder engagement on a high-visibility public sector project.

This position is ideal for someone who can step in quickly, lead client meetings, manage multiple workstreams, and operate effectively in a fast-moving, lightly structured environment.

This role will be located 5 days / week onsite in Downey, CA.

Key Responsibilities

Lead daily coordination across multiple business units and implementation workstreams

Facilitate client meetings, working sessions, and status updates

Track milestones, risks, dependencies, and action items across concurrent timelines

Support core HCM implementation phases: training, mock conversion, and go-live

Serve as a primary point of contact between business units, project leadership, and functional/technical teams

Maintain project tracking, dashboards, and leadership reporting

Drive issue resolution, escalate risks, and keep workstreams moving forward

Support change management and project communications

Requirements

Strong communication and executive presence; able to lead client meetings

Experience coordinating multiple workstreams or projects simultaneously

Comfortable working in ambiguity with minimal direction

Hands-on, proactive problem solver

Experience supporting ERP or HCM system implementations (preferred, not required)

Skills & Experience

3+ years supporting large-scale system implementations

3+ years coordinating multiple concurrent workstreams

Experience working with cross-functional (business and technical) teams

Stakeholder communication and change management experience

Familiarity with project tracking and reporting tools

Requirements - At least 5 years of project management experience, including 3+ years supporting large-scale system implementation initiatives.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple concurrent workstreams while managing shifting priorities and deadlines.

Strong communication skills with the confidence to guide stakeholder meetings and interact effectively with leadership.

Experience collaborating with both business and technical teams in cross-functional project environments.

Proven ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and take a hands-on approach to problem solving.

Background in HCM or related enterprise system implementations is preferred.

Familiarity with project tracking, milestone management, and meeting coordination best practices.
