The Campus Public Safety Officer is responsible for preserving a safe, secure, and welcoming environment throughout Minneapolis College by protecting people, property, and the educational mission of the College.
Campus Public Safety Officers patrol college facilities, respond to emergencies, investigate incidents, provide exceptional customer service, foster positive relationships with the campus community, and work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, visitors, and local emergency responders to promote a culture of safety.
This position requires professionalism, sound judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Build positive relationships with students, employees, and visitors by providing information, directions, safe walks, and general assistance with professionalism and respect.
Promote community-oriented public safety through proactive engagement, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and de-escalation.
Conduct visible foot and vehicle patrols of campus buildings, grounds, parking areas, and other college property to deter crime and identify safety concerns.
Perform building access procedures and monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, emergency communication systems, and access control systems.
Respond to medical emergencies, criminal incidents, suspicious activity, fire alarms, behavioral crises, hazardous conditions, and other calls for service.
Coordinate with police, fire, emergency medical services, and campus partners during emergencies, evacuations, sheltering operations, and critical incidents.
Conduct preliminary investigations, interview involved parties and witnesses, review available evidence, and accurately document findings.
Complete thorough and timely incident reports and other required documentation using department records management systems.
Provide work direction and mentorship to Student Safety Monitors and participate in training, emergency exercises, professional development, and departmental safety initiatives.
This posting will be used to fill for two positions.
