TL Future Force Early Talent Development Program Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Design Engineer

Ingersoll Rands Future Force Early Talent Development Program (ETD) provides college students with challenging assignments within our Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Manager and Technical functions with intentions to become a permanent IR employee upon graduation from college. Our program is different because it is a consecutive year, rotational engineering development program designed to support early career engineers through periodic, structured training and hands-on experiences. Delivered in targeted intervals alongside regular job responsibilities, the program combines technical workshops, mentorship, and project-based learning to accelerate growth and prepare participants for future engineering and leadership roles. Program consists of 2 consecutive year internship with exposure to a variety functions with Engineering, Product Management and Technical Services. Through functional rotations and experiences in multiple disciplines, you will be able to build diverse skill sets and a strong foundation for a successful and fulfilling career with Ingersoll Rand. These assignments and specialized development curriculum are strategically designed to ensure your continuous learning.

Our ETD Program for Engineering consists of:

Engineering ETD members will develop a solid engineering foundation with skills in key areas that may include New Product Development, Engineering Analysis, FMEA & DFMEA, VA/VE, Six Sigma, Product Design, Component and Reliability Testing, Product Management, Technical Compliance and Communication. Assignments are strategically chosen to ensure continuous learning and personal career development.

Successful Candidates Profile

Function-specific responsibilities will vary based on the assignment. A successful candidate for Graduate Program Excellence will exhibit the following:

In person work expectations at our Hampton, NJ Engineering Facility relocation stipend considered.

College major concentration should be to achieve an BS/BA in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Electrical, Industrial Design, Electro-Mechanical Engineering and/or Computer Science, with an overall GPA of 3.5 or above at the time the application is submitted.

Opportunity to remain in the IR PTL Engineering Future Force program for 2 internship (Junior and Senior year any semester - preferrable summer) programs for a minimum of 3 months and based on evaluations, join the company permanently in job related position within the IR PTL division.

Motivated to reach higher levels within Ingersoll Rand at an accelerated rate.

Demonstrated leadership skills: minimum of two examples such as: School club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, etc. or exceptional leadership of work projects.

Remain geographically flexible both during and after completion of the program.

Industrial Design Focus:

Assist engineers with circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout using industrystandard tools.

Perform bench testing, measurement, and debugging of electronic circuits under supervision.

Support development of embedded control systems, including microcontrollerbased designs.

Build and execute test plans for proto@types, components, and subsystems.

Document test results, design changes, and engineering observations clearly and accurately.

Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including mechanical engineering, firmware, and manufacturing.

Preferred Coursework & Core Skills

Basic understanding of analog and digital circuit design.

Familiarity with microcontrollers, sensors, and power electronics fundamentals.

Ability to read schematics and use common lab equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, power supplies).

Strong problemsolving skills and willingness to learn new tools and techniques.

Clear communication and solid technical writing skills.
