The Duck Inn Restaurant is nestled in North Central Montana, in the small town of Havre. The Duck Inn is a well-established restaurant, bar and casino that has been serving the Hi-Line community for over 50+years. At the Duck Inn Restaurant, we strive to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our guests. We are currently seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead our team and oversee all aspects of our operations. This role is crucial in delivering a high-quality menu while motivating our staff to excel in customer service. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the restaurant's revenue, profitability, and quality goals, ensuring efficient operations, and upholding the highest standards of production and service. With a strong background in both front and back of house management, the Restaurant Manager will play a key role in hiring and training qualified staff, managing schedules, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. By leading by example and fostering a positive work environment, you will contribute to the growth and success of our restaurant, ensuring that every customer enjoys a pleasant and memorable dining experience.

Manage and ensure smooth operations of the restaurant.

Supervise both kitchen and waitstaff, providing constructive feedback to enhance performance.

Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction

Respond efficiently and accurately to customer complaints

Train new and current employees on proper customer service practices

Communicate effectively with vendors, addressing any product, or service concerns
-
Regularly review product quality and research new vendors
-
Estimate future orders for goods, products, supplies, cleaning products, etc.

Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste
-
Maintain proper security procedures to protect employees, guests and company assets
-
Ensure a safe working and guest environment to minimize risk of injury and accidents. Complete incident reports accurately and promptly

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local laws and ordinances
-
Manage the Duck Inn's good image and suggest ways to improve it
-
Provide a strong presence in the local community in establishing a strong rapport with our main customer base

Promote the Duck Inn in the local community through word-of-mouth and restaurant events
-
Recommend ways to reach a broader audience (e.g. discounts, promotions, newspaper and social media ads)

Implement policies and protocols to ensure the sustainability of restaurant operations.

Financial
-
Accountable for the financial performance of the restaurant
-
Adhere to company standards and expected service levels to increase sales while minimizing costs.

Direct the staff towards the achievement of the restaurant's financial goals
-
Responsible for establishing and reporting goals to the Operations Officer, including but not limited to; accountability of sales, restaurant staffing and labor costs, guest comments, progress on projects, restaurant performance and financial results

Responsible for ensuring that all financial and personnel reporting is completed accurately, submitted to the accounting/HR department on a timely basis, and in accordance with company policy

Oversee weekly and monthly payroll processes for all staff members.

Responsible for inventory control; ensuring monthly inventories and reconcile findings
Product Safety and Planning

Provide a safe working environment for the staff

Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas

Ensure compliance with all sanitation and safety regulations to uphold health standards
-
Ensure consistent high quality of food preparation and service
-
Estimate food needs and place orders with vendors, suppliers
-
Supervise portion control and minimize waste
-
ServSafe certified required
Personnel
-
Interview, hire and train hourly employees
-
Conduct new employee orientation
-
Assign and define areas of responsibility for each employee
-
Coach and develop new and existing employees through consistent feedback, and clear expectations
-
Perform employee reviews and develop corrective action plans if needed
-
Create and manage schedules for hourly employees based on employee availability and customer demand
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Although this is our preferred list, we will also consider candidates with relevant experience and ability eve if they lack some qualifications.

High school diploma or GED equivalent is required

Proven work experience as a Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager, Hospitality Manager or similar role

Proven customer service experience as a manager; strong guest focused mentality

Extensive food and beverage knowledge

Honesty and integrity in all areas of the restaurant, bar and casino operations

Dependable, reliable, and self-motivated

Adaptable and flexible

Leadership skills, with the ability to delegate, motivate and inspire

Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Acute financial management skills

BS Degree in Business Administration; hospitality management or culinary schooling is a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS

Hours vary from 8-12 hours per shift; depending on the restaurant's demands

Primarily work indoors, but occasionally may have to work outside (patio)

Must adapt for staff or supply shortages
