Job Title: Heavy Industrial Assembler
Hours- 6am-2:30pm Monday- Friday $18-20 to start.
Job Description
This role focuses on assembling structural steel beams using hand tools, power tools, and air tools in a climate-controlled industrial environment. You will prepare beams for shipment by inserting lugs and bolts, performing finishing work such as grinding and polishing welds, and supporting general shop operations. The position offers consistent daytime hours on a first shift schedule and opportunities to learn new skills in other production departments over time.
Responsibilities
Assemble structural steel beams using hand tools, power tools, and air tools according to specifications.
Insert lugs, bolts, and other hardware to complete structural steel beams for shipment.
Read and interpret blueprints and production documentation to ensure accurate assembly.
Perform grinding and polishing of welds to meet quality and safety standards.
Support general shop duties, including upkeep, organization, and cleanliness of the work area.
Work safely and efficiently within a weld shop environment alongside other weld and assembly operations.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to train in additional departments such as paint, machine shop, and weld shop as needed.
Essential Skills
Experience with mechanical assembly in a production or industrial environment.
Ability to use hand tools, including wrenches, screwdrivers, and related mechanical tools.
Proficiency with power tools and air tools for industrial assembly work.
Familiarity with structural steel assembly and components.
Ability to read and follow blueprints and assembly instructions.
Strong work history with consistent employment and non-attendance-based reasons for job changes.
Willingness to learn and develop new skills beyond basic assembly tasks.
Ability to work safely in a weld shop environment with appropriate awareness of surroundings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working with sub-assembly or complex mechanical assemblies.
Background in a production or manufacturing setting with exposure to multiple departments.
Interest in cross-training in paint, machine shop, and weld shop operations.
Comfort working around structural steel and related industrial processes.

Work Environment
This position operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The work takes place in a climate-controlled weld shop where the welding area is organized into cell groups, with four weld cells per group and four groups in total. Assemblers and welders work in the same general area, and each welder has an individual weld cell. Ventilation in the building is designed to support safe operations, although there can be a visible haze in the weld area when working on galvanized steel due to the chemical reaction from welding heat. The environment is industrial and production-focused, with regular use of hand tools, power tools, and air tools, and an emphasis on maintaining a clean and orderly shop.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
