Job Description
This role focuses on applying high-performance coatings to the interior and exterior of industrial tanks and pressure vessels in a production environment. You will prepare surfaces, mix coatings, and apply thick-film, non-water-based paints and chemical-resistant linings using airless spray systems, as well as brush and roll techniques. You will work both inside confined spaces and at height on scaffolding, ensuring all work meets strict quality and inspection standards.

Responsibilities
Prepare interior and exterior surfaces of industrial tanks and pressure vessels for coating, including cleaning, sanding, blasting, and other prep activities as required.
Mix paints, coatings, thinners, and chemical-resistant linings according to manufacturer specifications and job requirements.
Apply thick-film, non-water-based coatings using an airless spray system, as well as brush and roll methods, to achieve specified coverage and finish quality.
Work with multiple @types of paints, thinners, coatings, and linings, ensuring correct selection and application for both exterior and interior surfaces.
Read and interpret data sheets, identifying and applying key information such as pot life, mix ratios, millage requirements, and recoat windows.
Monitor environmental conditions, including dew point and other factors, to prevent defects such as bubbling and to ensure proper adhesion of coatings.
Use inspection equipment to verify that coating thickness and millage meet specified targets and quality standards.
Perform painting operations inside tanks, including confined space work, and on scaffolding to access tops and other elevated areas of tanks.
Operate and maintain spray guns, paint booths, and related industrial painting equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Use hand and power tools to assist with final assembly of tanks after painting is complete.
Follow established quality standards and procedures, ensuring all work passes inspection and meets production requirements.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper handling and storage of paints, chemicals, and equipment.
Wear and properly use a respirator and other required personal protective equipment at all times while performing painting tasks.
Essential Skills
At least 5 years of industrial painting and spraying experience in production, manufacturing, and other industrial environments.
Proficiency with airless spray systems, including setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting.
Hands-on experience with thick-film coatings and multiple @types of paint chemicals, including chemical-resistant linings.
Strong knowledge of interior and exterior paints, coatings, and linings, including their appropriate use and application methods.
Experience working in paint booths and industrial painting settings, including sanding, cleaning, blasting, and sandblasting.
Ability to perform spray painting using spray guns, as well as brush and roll techniques, to achieve high-quality finishes.
Understanding of environmental factors that affect coating performance, including dew point and its impact on bubbling and adhesion.
Knowledge of the difference between WFG and DFG and how these factors influence painting conditions and results.
Ability to read and understand data sheets, including key details such as pot life, mix ratio, millage requirements, and recoat windows.
Experience using inspection equipment to verify coating thickness and millage against specified standards.
Prior experience working to defined quality standards where finished work is inspected and measured against those standards.
Capability to work safely while wearing a respirator and performing tasks in confined spaces and at heights.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience painting in multiple environments beyond a single production or manufacturing setting.
Familiarity with production-based manufacturing operations involving industrial tanks or similar large structures.
Comfort using a variety of hand and power tools for final assembly and finishing tasks.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a growing, production-focused facility.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality results.

Work Environment
This position operates on a first shift schedule, typically Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with Fridays often being 8-hour days and overtime commonly worked on Saturdays. Work takes place in an outdoor, open-air paint shop with a roof and two open sides, providing ventilation while still offering some overhead coverage. You will be required to wear a respirator and other appropriate personal protective equipment throughout painting operations. The role involves working inside industrial tanks, so you must be comfortable in confined spaces, and working on scaffolding to reach the tops and elevated areas of tanks. The environment is industrial, production-oriented, and hands-on, with regular use of spray equipment, paint booths, hand tools, and power tools.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
