Machine Operator I
3rd Shift - Miramar - $23.75/hr
Job Description
The 3rd Machine Operator I works in the saw production area, loading parts and rods onto machines, performing manual outside operations, and documenting part dimensions. This role supports consistent, high-quality production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and requires careful attention to detail, safe machine operation, and adherence to lean manufacturing practices.
Responsibilities
Operate saws and related production machinery safely and efficiently in the Sawland area.
Load parts and rods onto machines according to work instructions and production schedules.
Perform outside operations, including manual processing steps, as required to complete parts.
Conduct dimensional inspections using calipers and other measuring tools to verify product accuracy.
Document part dimensions and inspection results clearly and accurately on departmental paperwork.
Read and follow simple manufacturing drawings and blueprints to ensure correct setup and processing.
Apply lean manufacturing and lean Six Sigma principles to maintain an organized, efficient work area.
Perform basic math calculations needed for measurements, counts, and production documentation.
Work in a repetitive production setting while maintaining focus, quality, and safety throughout the shift.
Stand for extended periods and handle physical aspects of machine operation and material handling.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to learn the process and continuously improve performance.
Essential Skills
Ability to read and write at a High School or equivalent level to follow written instructions and complete paperwork.
At least 1 year of experience using calipers and performing dimensional inspection.
At least 1 year of experience reading simple manufacturing drawings and blueprints.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in machine operation.
Proficiency in basic math for measurements and production calculations.
Ability to operate saws and related machinery safely and accurately.
Ability to stand for up to 8 hours in a repetitive production setting.
Attention to detail and accuracy when documenting dimensions and inspection results.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
Exposure to lean Six Sigma concepts and continuous improvement practices.
Experience with bandsaw operation.
Comfort working regular overtime, close to 50 hours per week.
Flexibility to work additional hours on Saturdays when available.
Willingness to complete initial training on 1st or 2nd shift before moving to 3rd shift.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing production setting within a saw operation area. The role is on 3rd shift, typically from 10:30 p.m. to 6:15 a.m., with approximately one week of initial training on 1st or 2nd shift. The environment involves operating saws and related machinery, working with bandsaws, and using calipers and other inspection tools. Work is repetitive and requires standing for up to 8 hours, handling parts and rods, and maintaining focus on safety and quality. The facility regularly operates close to 50 hours per week, with optional work available on Saturdays for those who are flexible and interested in additional hours.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.75 - $23.75/hr.
