This position performs professional Human Resources guidance and consultation in the areas of leave management, labor relations, classification, compensation, staffing and selection and strategic recruitment for the Minnesota Veterans Home - Hastings to ensure the requirements of all Home specific goals, personnel statutes, collective bargaining agreements, personnel rules and administrative procedures are met. This position serves as strategic business partner to MVH - Hastings management team.
As an HR Business Partner, you would:
Coordinate and complete full-cycle recruitment and staffing processes in collaboration with hiring supervisors, HR staff and others.
Research, analyze and document requests to establish new positions and re-classify vacant and occupied positions, in accordance with established job classification policies and procedures.
Provide professional-level planning and consultation support related to labor relations functions.
Advise managers, supervisors and employees on a wide range of employment laws and policies to ensure consistency and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of Human Resources experience in one or more of the following areas: labor relations, employee performance management, vacancy-filling, job analysis/classification and/or compensation.
All applicants who meet the above experience requirements will be further evaluated based on the following:
Analysis and problem-solving skills sufficient to evaluate information, research HR issues, recognize problems, identify options/solutions, and make sound decisions and recommendations.
Skills in using HR information systems (preferably PeopleSoft) sufficient to review and enter employee/position information and track applicant/vacancy-filling status.
Skills in using word processing and spreadsheet software (preferably Microsoft Word and Excel) sufficient to create and edit correspondence and develop and maintain spreadsheets to track data.
Communication skills sufficient to effectively explain processes and procedures; compose and edit correspondence and reports; and prepare and present information/training to individuals and groups.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills to build collaborative working relationships in a diverse and inclusive environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a closely related degree program.
Experience and skills in administering/coordinating hiring processes, including assessing applicants' qualifications and working effectively with hiring managers.
Experience and skills in labor relations, including contract/pay plan interpretation, grievance administration, labor/management relations, and/or consulting on employee investigations and discipline.
Experience interpreting employment-related laws, rules, administrative procedures, and/or collective bargaining agreements sufficient to provide consistent and compliant advice and guidance.
Knowledge of workers' compensation and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) administration.
