Midwest Stone Institute, located in Kirkwood, MO, provides specialized urological care and lithotripsy services focusing on kidney stone treatment.
Looking for a strong business leader who has experience leading physician-hospital partnerships, ambulatory surgery centers, specialty service lines, research organizations or healthcare joint ventures.
Overview
Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital's staff is composed of full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
MSI is a mobile service provider of extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy/treatments, laser, cryo ablation, and brachy therapy equipment and personnel. MSI services physicians and patients at hospitals and surgery centers in the St. Louis MSA for the treatment of stone disease, kidney/prostate cancer, and orthopaedic/podiatric tendon inflammation.

Role Purpose
Provides executive leadership and strategic direction for the Midwest Stone Institute (MSI) and affiliated joint ventures. Accountable for organizational performance, operational excellence, financial stewardship, business development, and strategic growth initiatives. Partners with physicians, hospital leadership, and the Board of Directors to advance MSI's mission, drive innovation in patient care and research, and ensure sustainable organizational success.
Key Responsibilities
Provides overall leadership, vision, and strategic direction for MSI and any affiliated partnerships or joint ventures.
Oversees all operational, administrative, and business functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and seamless integration with hospital and physician stakeholders.
Directs the financial management of MSI, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue optimization, expense management, and long-term financial planning.
Identifies, develops, and implements strategic growth opportunities, partnerships, and service expansion initiatives that support organizational objectives.
Leads contract negotiation and relationship management with hospitals, clinical service locations, third-party payers, vendors, and other external partners.
Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, contractual, and organizational requirements.
Recruits, develops, mentors, and evaluates staff. Establishes performance expectations and fosters a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
Collaborates with physicians, researchers, and operational leaders to support innovation, technology adoption, clinical excellence, and research initiatives.
Administers grant funding programs that advance urological research, education, and patient care innovation.
Monitors healthcare industry trends, regulatory changes, reimbursement models, and emerging technologies to identify risks and opportunities for MSI.
Serves as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, partnering on strategic planning, governance activities, and organizational performance reporting.
Prepares and presents operational, financial, and strategic updates to the Board while ensuring transparent communication and effective decision-making.
Advances the mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of BJC and MSI through collaborative leadership and stakeholder engagement.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Public Health, or a related field.
Experience
5-10 years of progressively responsible healthcare leadership, physician practice management, ambulatory services, joint venture management, or related healthcare operations experience.
Leadership Experience
5-10 years of experience leading managers, professional staff, and complex operational functions.
Preferred Requirements
Education
Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), Public Health (MPH), or a related field.
Preferred Experience
Experience leading physician-hospital partnerships, ambulatory surgery centers, specialty service lines, research organizations, or healthcare joint ventures.
Experience with board governance, strategic planning, contract negotiations, and financial management within a healthcare environment.
