Job Title: Warehouse Associate
Job Description
The Warehouse Associate plays a key role in daily warehouse operations, spending the majority of the shift operating a sit-down forklift to move, store, and retrieve materials throughout the facility. This contract-to-hire position is ideal for individuals with prior sit-down forklift experience who enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. In addition to forklift operation, the role includes order picking, pallet wrapping, inventory control, and general warehouse duties. The successful candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and comfortable working in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse. Upon successful completion of the contract period, there is potential for permanent employment and access to company benefits.
Responsibilities
Safely operate a sit-down forklift for approximately 80-90% of the workday to move, store, and retrieve materials throughout the warehouse.
Load and unload products from trucks and staging areas while following established safety procedures and maintaining accuracy.
Handle materials efficiently to support shipping, receiving, and overall warehouse operations.
Perform general warehouse duties including order picking, pallet wrapping, and staging products for shipment.
Assist with inventory movement and organization to ensure products are stored in the correct locations.
Conduct cycle counts and inventory verification to maintain accurate stock levels.
Accurately track product locations and quantities and assist with investigating and reporting inventory discrepancies.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with warehouse standards.
Follow all warehouse safety guidelines and forklift operating procedures at all times.
Inspect forklift and related equipment before use and promptly report any issues or concerns.
Work safely and effectively in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse environment with varying seasonal temperatures.
Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent warehouse operations.
Collaborate effectively with warehouse staff and leadership to meet daily operational goals.
Support changing operational needs as business demands fluctuate, including assisting in different areas of the warehouse as required.
Essential Skills
Prior sit-down forklift experience preferred, with the ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift for most of the workday.
Proven experience in material handling within a warehouse or similar environment.
Experience supporting shipping and receiving activities and basic warehouse operations.
Ability to perform inventory management tasks including cycle counting and inventory verification.
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate picking, loading, and inventory tracking.
Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks and maintain productivity.
Clear and professional communication skills to work collaboratively with team members and leadership.
Ability to complete basic warehouse documentation accurately and legibly.
Physical ability to lift, move, and handle warehouse materials as needed.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical warehouse tasks throughout the entire shift.
Comfort working in a non-temperature-controlled environment, including seasonal heat and cold.
Strong work ethic and consistent commitment to workplace safety and established procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Material handling experience in a warehouse or distribution setting.
Experience with shipping and receiving processes and warehouse operation workflows.
Experience in inventory management, including tracking product locations and quantities.
Demonstrated attention to detail when handling orders and inventory data.
Solid time management and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and coordination.
Ability to complete and maintain basic warehouse documentation and records.
Reliability in attendance and punctuality, supporting consistent operations.

Work Environment
This role is based in a busy warehouse setting with a strong team-oriented and family-focused culture. The facility operates on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, providing consistent daytime hours. The warehouse is non-temperature-controlled, so employees should be comfortable working in seasonal heat and cold conditions. The environment is safety-focused, with established procedures for forklift operation, material handling, and general warehouse tasks. Work is fast-paced and requires attention to detail, physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and orderly workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Edison, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
