Responsibilities If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing substantive legal support to the Middle District of Louisiana. Typical work assignments will include: Providing technical assistance to litigation teams on legal automation requirements and systems capabilities to develop and facilitate litigation decisions, trial preparation and trial presentation. Using various software applications to efficiently open cases, close cases, and organize, analyze, and present case materials for discovery. Preparing computerized trial exhibits and presentations using hardware such as printers, plotters, audio-visual devices, among others. Researching, analyzing, and summarizing relevant legal precedents for applicability to assigned cases as appropriate. Preparing exhibits for legal proceedings involving a wide range of visual materials including charts, diagrams, photographs, and models. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level. Specialized experience is defined as: assisting an attorney with trial preparation, including making recommendations on how to proceed with trial presentations; utilizing office automation tools in order to create physical and digital trial presentations; working with investigators, agents, and legal support staff; handling a wide variety of evidence and discovery; and providing technical assistance to litigation teams. OR Education: a Master's or equivalent graduate degree such as LL.B. or J.D in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Law); or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. Education All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
